With all the major operating systems providing digital voice assistants for their devices, it has become an integral part of our everyday use. However, it is not always easy to figure out which commands or sentences are best recognized by them. Luckily, for Google’s voice assistant which is invoked via the words ‘Okay Google’, coder Kristijan Ristovski has complied a list of 150 commands and more than 1000 variations.
Ristovski says that the discrepancy between what you command and what your device comprehends inspired him to compile the list. The list is not complete by any means, and he aims to keep it updated as he discovers new commands. Out of all the voice assistants like Apple’s Siri, Amazon’s Alexa, and Microsoft’s Cortana, Google has the best voice recognition but it did not have any reference document which details every command.
The published list has 25 categories from which you can seek digital assistance from Google. This includes commands for people and relationships, weather, maths, contacts and calls, web browsing, music, social apps, and more. On the web page, you will also find examples of commands for each category. For example, for people and relations, you can say, “okay google, who is Bruno Mars” or “okay google, who was the first president of USA?”
Appropriately, the website uses Material Design and looks great. Check out the complete list of Okay Google commands here.
