Finally, the final build of Cyanogen Mod 7, the most popular after market Android firmware has been released. This release was a long time in coming ( took 4 months ) and is based on Android 2.3.3, otherwise known as Gingerbread. The great thing about this release is that despite most companies having dropped support for providing newest Android releases for their phones, CM7 brings all Gingerbread goodness to those phones. The current list of supported phones and tablets is 30 and contains lots of old models as well as new ones.
The team behind CM7 isn’t resting yet though because many features couldn’t be implemented in CM7. Those features are expected to be incorporated in CM 7.1.
If you want to give CM7 a try, check out if your device is supported here. Then you can either install ROM Manager to get CM7 easily or just manually download the ROM from here.
If you run into any issues, we’re always here to help you. Now, excuse me while I update my Nexus S to CM 7.
