As always with major operating system releases, Apple includes some new background images. The first developers betas of iOS 10 and macOS 10.12 Sierra also include a number of new wallpapers, which have been extracted by users over at Reddit.
macOS Sierra has one of the most beautiful Mac wallpapers I have seen in a long time. The colors resemble El Capitan’s wallpaper but this photo just looks majestic. The image is available in 5k resolution.
The iOS wallpaper is a shot of sea waves which looks great on iPhone and iPad.
Apple announced iOS 10 and the newly renamed macOS 10.12 Sierra at WWDC 2016. The betas are already available to developers while the public betas are expected to be made available in July.
macOS will ship with new features including Siri on desktop, ability to pin Siri search results to notification center, redesigned notification center and widgets, auto-unlock via Apple Watch, updated Photos app with memories, smart search and improved face recognition, Apple Pay and picture-in-picture video playback in Safari, universal clipboard for copy/paste between Mac and iOS devices, desktop and document so iCloud Drive, Optimized Storage, improved Messages and iTunes apps, and much more.
iOS 10 also has tons of new features including opening up of Siri, Messages, Maps and Phone apps to third party developers, redesigned notifications and widgets, improved 3D touch functionality, lots of new features for iMessage, improved Photos, Maps, Notes, Apple Music, Apple News and Health apps, new Home app for HomeKit and much more.
Overall, these are major updates to Apple’s desktop and mobile operating systems. Stay tuned for the latest news on iOS 10 and macOS.
