EA recently announced that it is launching a new mobile Battlefield mobile game that will arrive on iOS and Android in 2022. The developer also said that it is in the process of developing the series’ next installment for PC and console.
Battlefield mobile will be a standalone title, meaning that it will be a completely different game from the one available on consoles and PC. The mobile game is designed specifically to provide a fully-fledged, skill-based experience on smartphones.
New Battlefield mobile game coming in 2022
The game is currently being built from the ground up by iToys to make Battlefield-on-the-go a reality. EA is looking to capitalize on the popularity of shooter games with the introduction of a mobile Battlefield game. Back in 2019, when Call Of Duty: Mobile was rolled out, it saw an extremely successful launch gathering more than 100 million downloads within a week.
It’s always been our vision to bring Battlefield to more platforms. So, after years of prototyping, I’m super happy to be able to let you know that our friends at Industrial Toys, working closely with all of us here at DICE, are developing a completely new Battlefield game bringing all-out warfare to smartphones and tablets in 2022.
As for the reveal of the next Battlefield game for consoles and PC, General Manager DICE, Oskar Gabrielson mentioned that Criterion and DICE LA are working on a shared vision for the next installment, while their team in Gottenburg is making ground-breaking advancements in the field of technology to take the game to the next level.
We’re in daily playtesting mode right now: polishing, balancing, and making the best possible Battlefield game we can. I can tell you it is a bold step. It has everything we love about Battlefield – and takes all of it to the next level. Epic scale. All-out military warfare. Crazy, unexpected moments. Game-changing destruction. Massive battles, packed with more players and mayhem than ever before. All brought to life with the power of next-gen consoles and PCs.
Major changes are expected in the ever-loving franchise since Gabrielson described the game as a “bold step” for the titles. The PC and console installment is expected to launch sometime later this year or early next year during the holiday season.
