Here’s how to enable it:
- Create a new folder.
- Rename it to : GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
- That’s it. The icon should change to the one shown below:
This is what the GodMode Window will look like:
I still prefer the control panel over GodMode since everything is easier to find under the categories. I’ve tired this in Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and it works fine. If you try it in Windows Vista, let us know if it works in the comments.
Update: Don’t try this on Vista x64 unless you want it to crash. Let us know if it works on Vista 32 bit though.
Update 2: Turns out this isn’t a new trick. It was discovered in Vista called Master Control Panel by Ramesh Kumar. If you’re facing crashes, here’s a fix.
god mode is what u named rite..or is it that somethin like this exists already!!
Dude, I tried the .GodMode stuff under Vista and it caused a CATASTROPHE! Windows Explorer went bonkers and kept crashing and restarting, crashing and restarting. I almost decided to reinstall Vista until I ended up deleted my Desktop folder (to which the .GodMode folder was saved on)!
Thank God I’m such a computer geek, because I am sure that if any person having less proficiency in computers than me had to face this problem, he would’ve taken his computer to the store.
In other words, edit the post a bit and ummm don’t ask people to try opening GodMode under Vista :P Hurry!!
Thanks for the heads up =) I just stumbled across your blog while searching for the source of this trick. I guess the name ‘GodMode’ suites this hack quiet well =)
Yep, seems to work under Vista 32bit Home Premium as well.
Thanks for sharing ! : )
yea it does work on vista.
Thanks Ramesh, I’ve updated the post with your information. :)
Works for Windows 2008 Server R2 as well

God Mode is really just a shell command. Create a shortcut (call it anything you like), and point it to:C:Windowsexplorer.exe shell:::{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}, and PRESTO!
