This is without a doubt a very interesting news to say the least that real soon we might be able to make a group video call via FaceTime using our iPhone 4, the latest iPod Touch or may be even our desktops! This rumor is based on discovery of an interesting key found in FaceTime’s code by an iPod Touch Fans member 42395_skyline. According to this key, it appears that future updates of FaceTime may allow conference video calling among 3 or more people.
If we are to believe the upcoming iPad 2 prototype rumors having a front facing camera for FaceTime support, imagine how great it would be on the iPad’s larger screen and would definitely give Apple an extra edge especially to the corporate clients over other competing tablets currently in the market.
The file which is located at :
/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/IMCore.framework/imagent.app/PlugIns/
FaceTime.imservice/ServiceProperties.plist
contains the following key :
<key>AllowsMultipleConnections</key>
<false/>
It is believed that setting the above value to ‘true’ may enable the group video calling hidden feature over FaceTime. So if you do give it a try, let us know how it goes in the comments section below!
