Apple TV+ has announced the premiere dates of five highly anticipated movies in September at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in Toronto, Canada. The upcoming movie slate includes titles with renowned Hollywood stars like Jennifer Lawrence, Denzel Washington, Ewan McGregor, Zac Efron, and others.
“We’re thrilled to be debuting such a diverse spectrum of Apple Originals at this year’s festival. From documentaries about icons to dramas from Academy Award-winning filmmakers and actors, TIFF audiences are in for a treat. We look forward to giving movie lovers from around the globe a first sneak peek in Toronto.” said Apple’s head of features Matt Dentler.
Here are the premiere dates of exciting new movies set to premiere on Apple TV+ this month
September 8: “Louis Armstrong’s Black & Blues”
Directed by Sacha Jenkins, The documentary honors the life and the musical struggle of the world-changing musician, Louis Armstrong through a lens of archival footage, and never-seen-before personal conversations and home recordings.
September 10: “Gutsy”
The eight-part documentary follows Hillary Rodham Clinton and Chelsea Clinton as they meet the “gutsy women” like personal heroes, extraordinary, courageous, and resilient women who inspire the youth around the world. It is based on their acclaimed book “The Book of Gutsy Women”, the new docuseries will feature conversations with Megan Thee Stallion, Jane Goodall, Wanda Sykes, Kim Kardashian, and others.
September 10: “Causeway”
Starring Jennifer Lawrance as a struggling soldier returning home, “Causeway” will showcase the personal and emotional challenges she will overcome to adjust to her old life in New Orleans. The movie is directed by Lila Neugebauer and is produced by A24.
September 10: “Sidney”
The inspirational documentary celebrates the life and work of legendary Sidney Poitier refused to conform to social norms that created discrimination, and racial injustice as an iconic actor in Hollywood and Civil Rights Movement activist for the African American community.
September 12: “Raymond & Ray”
Starring Ewan McGregor and Ethan Hawke, “Raymond & Ray” is a story of two half brothers who get a chance to reinvent themselves at the funeral of their “terrible father”. Directed by Rodrigo Garcia, the movie features a range of emotions involved in one healing process; “There’s anger, there’s pain, there’s folly, there might be love, and there’s definitely gravedigging.”
This month, “The Greatest Beer Run Ever” starring Zac Efron and Russel Crowe will also premiere on Apple TV+ on September 30.
