Apple has already said that it will patch the iPhone 14 Pro shaky camera issue in an update coming next week. However, in the interim, Apple Support has offered a temporary fix for iPhone 14 Pro owners to use third-party apps like Snapchat, Instagram, TikTok, and other third-party apps.
Earlier this week, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max users reported that the phones’ cameras shook incessantly and produced rattling noises on third-party apps only, not the native camera app.
Apple suggests launching the stock camera app first to resolve iPhone 14 Pro’s shaky camera in third-party apps
Reddit user @Toxic_Avenger94 shared that Apple Support reconfirmed that iPhone 14 Pro shaky camera issue would be resolved in the upcoming update, and in the meanwhile, the user should launch the native camera app first and after a few seconds, should open the Snapchat app.
The communication reads:
I appreciate you helping me out with the details. I have some steps for us to try. Based on what I was able to find, we have received similar reports of this happening and the engineers are currently working on it to see what may have caused it. The issue will be fixed in an upcoming software release, in the meantime they have provided steps to try.
- Restart the iPhone
- Launch the camera app and leave it open for 3 seconds.
- Open the snapchat app
According to the Redditor, the suggested fix has worked; “so far yes. I noticed the Snapchat camera loads faster if the main stock camera app is open first.”
When the issue was first reported developer of a popular iOS camera app, Halide believed the issue was caused by the faulty OIS sensor. Luckily, it appears to be a software-related issue, not hardware.
The incidents we have seen were hardware failures. Perhaps there's a software problem that is similar, but for a high-frequency OIS rattle it's almost certainly a hardware failure.
