Skyfire, the popular mobile browser for Android, Windows Phone, and iOS now has a new iOS app available. The app is called Skyfire VideoQ, and in a nutshell, allows you to watch Flash video on your iOS device. It works by you sending an email with the link to the video you want to watch and skyfire converts the video for you and you can view it on your app.
When you first start Skyfire VideoQ, it will ask you to send an email with the account you want to activate with the service. The email will also include your device’s UUID, which seems a bit odd. Once your email is sent, you will get an email confirming your registration and will give you a quick tutorial of Skyfire to watch.
Here’s how it works: All you have to do is email the link to your webpage and skyfire will do the conversion. Skyfire uses it’s own servers to process the page, and then email it back to you. The app will also allow you to watch popular videos as well via its “Hot” tab. The video quality however was subpar, the audio sounded terrible and sometimes Skyfire won’t be able to find your video. However, it will work for you if you are always mobile, or just want to watch your show on the bus or train. Obviously this is not a replacement for your PC, but if you live a mobile lifestyle, then it may be for you.
This app is available for the iPhone, iPod and iPad in the App Store.
