Apple’s subsidiary brand Beats, in collaboration with design studio Futura Laboratories, recently announced a special edition of the Beats Studio Buds. As is the case with all special edition Beats Studio buds, the internals are the same as the standard models but they feature a new design with Futura’s signature “atom” motif.
Futura x Beats Studio Buds will be available starting Saturday, July 30
The Futura X Beats Studio Buds marks the second collaboration between Beats and the graffiti artist. The first collaboration was the Solo HD headphones that came out also a decade ago in 2013.
In conjunction with the launch of the special edition buds, Futura has created a playlist full of songs that complement his work. The old-school playlist, titled “Futura Laboratories,” is available to stream on Apple Music. The hour-long playlist features fifteen songs including Summer Madness by Kool & The Gang, Black Magic Woman by Santana, and more.
“Music has always been a necessity in my creative space,” said Futura in a statement, “but music on my Beats Studio Buds takes me to an entirely isolated inner space.”
The earbuds will be available for purchase starting Saturday, July 30 at 7:00 a.m. Pacific Time. The earbuds will cost the same as the standard variant at $149.99. They can be found on Futura Laboratories Online, END Clothing, and Beats’ WeChat store.
The Studio Buds feature a lightweight in-ear design for comfortable all-day wear and offer compatibility with Android and iOS devices. Furthermore, they are touted to be one of the best alternatives for Apple’s AirPods Pro offering features like Active Noise Cancellation, Transparency Mode, “Hey Siri” support, and more at a stunning price point of $150.
In addition to the recent limited-edition Studio Buds, the earbuds were also released in three new colorways back in April; Moonlight Grey, Ocean Blue, and Sunset Pink. Later in May, Beats also released a special edition of Beats Studio Buds in collaboration with clothing brand Daily Paper which was inspired by its SS22 collection.
