MacPaw, the developers behind Setapp and CleanMyMac X, have released a new update to their award-winning duplicate finder app, Gemini 2, with a real-time file duplicates monitor.
Gemini 2 is a free utility that identifies duplicate files on Macs and external hard drives. Identifying and eliminating those duplicates can free up loads of storage space and it gives you the extra space you need for relevant downloads, photos, music, etc.
Gemini 2 utility for Mac adds real-time duplicate monitoring and alerts with latest update
The Duplicates Monitor identifies identical files as they’re added to macOS in real-time, including pictures, videos, documents, and audio files. The feature appears as a menu bar item and runs in the background.
When the app recognizes a duplicate, Duplicates Monitor instantly notifies users about the new repeating copy and presents them with an option to swiftly remove the unwanted files before they begin clogging precious Mac disk space.
“Duplicate files not only occupy valuable disk space but also make the system slow. For large amounts of duplicates, the scanning process can be time-consuming and resource-demanding,” says Oleksandr Kosovan, CEO of MacPaw. “With the Duplicates Monitor, users will now be able to keep the duplicate files to a minimum, making their Macs faster and more organized and sparing disk space for things that really matter.”
If the user accidentally skips the alert, they can go back to the last three instances when the duplicates were created through the Gemini 2 app. The app is also optimized for macOS Big Sur with a simple interface that includes Light and Dark color schemes to your preferences.
Duplicates Monitor is a free update for existing Gemini 2 users and is available starting today. The app can be downloaded from the Mac App Store and the MacPaw website, and is also available in Setapp, the subscription-based service for macOS apps.
