Google Maps on iOS has been updated with new features that provide users with rich information about the places in their vicinity or want to visit like finding charging stations, Live Views in more countries, and more.
The company explains that the updated Google Maps will help users to navigate the busy holiday season with little less stress by letting them explore and get around with little more convenience. Here are the updates available and soon to release on Google Maps.
Everything new on Google Maps on iOS
Google Maps features three new updates but all of them are not currently available on the app.
Currently available
- Find the best charging station with the new “fast charge” filter. Owners of electric vehicles can not only search for charging stations near them but also search for the fastest ones. Users can also filter stations as per EV’s plug type in more countries.
Now it’s even easier to find the best charging station for your car. Search for “EV charging stations” and select the “fast charge” filter — you’ll see stations with chargers 50kW or higher so you can charge up faster.
- The “Accessible Places” feature now includes a new wheelchair icon to see wheelchair-accessible, stair-free places around the world. Users can also see if a place has accessible seating, parking, and a restroom. This feature is useful for individuals with wheelchairs, strollers, luggage, or carts.
Coming in next week
- Live View will be available in London, Los Angeles, New York, Paris, San Francisco, and Tokyo for users to explore new places more intuitively with street view images and augmented reality. Simply by lifting their phone and tapping on the camera icon in the search bar, users will see nearby stores, coffee shops, ATMs, and more, and get guided directions to explore new places.
Existing Google Maps users can update the app via App Store to enjoy the new features and others can download the app from the App Store.
