Reportedly, Google is internally testing a new YouTube gaming service called “Playables” with employees. The new YouTube gaming service would allegedly allow users to enjoy games on mobile and desktop computers.
Gaming is a multi-billion dollar industry and it is getting bigger on mobile platforms, iOS and Android, in addition to consoles and desktop computers. Therefore, tech companies launched cloud gaming services that allow users to play games on mobile along with desktops like Microsoft’s introduced Game Pass, Nvidia GeForce, and Netflix Games.
Google tests a new instant-play like ‘Stack Bounce’ for the YouTube gaming service
According to the report, Google is working on another gaming service “Playables” for YouTube. The new YouTube gaming service will be integrated with the YouTube website and its iOS and Andoird apps which will offer users a variety of instant-play games to spend time on the platform, unlike Stadia.
YouTube is internally testing a product for playing online games, according to an email sent to employees at parent company Google, signaling ambitions to move beyond video hosting into games that can easily be played and shared between users.
Google recently invited employees to begin testing a new YouTube product called Playables, which gives users access to games on mobile devices or desktop computers.
In 2019, Google launched a cloud gaming service called Stadia and brought it to iPhone through Safari after a year because of Apple iOS App Store rules for cloud games which require every game to be submitted individually on the App Store.
However, Stadia was officially shut down in January 2023 because it did not gain the traction the tech company expected.
Now, Google is working on instant-play games instead of cloud-based games for “Playables”. Easy-to-play games like Stack Bounce will be available on the new YouTube gaming service. Stack Bounce by Minh Quan Ngo is a simple game in which users need to build a tower while managing a bouncing ball.

A YouTube spokesperson said that “gaming has long been a focus at YouTube” and the company is “always experimenting with new features,” but did not comment on Playables.
