Infiniti motors has announced the availability of Apple’s CarPlay for select 2020 and 2021 models as a free upgrade. Integrated with iPhone, the wireless service enables users to safely receive and make calls, play music, get directions, answer texts, and much more via the vehicle’s built-in entertainment and information system.
Owners of eligible Infiniti models can get free CarPlay upgrades by March 31, 2022
Engadget reports that Infiniti announced that 2022 models will come with factory-installed CarPlay. And to compensate owners who model the aforementioned car models this year, the Japanese automaker is upgrading their vehicles for free. However, the offer is valid till March 31, 2022, and owners will have to visit the local dealership to receive the free upgrade.
All Infiniti owners need to do is head on over to their local dealership and hang out for about an hour as technicians install and update the necessary software. But don’t dawdle, the upgrade service is only available through March 31, 2022.
Following Infiniti car models are eligible for a free upgrade:
- Q50 (2020 – 2021)
- Q60 and Q60 SUV (2020 – 2021)
- QX80 (2020 – 2021)
Over 600 car models support Apple’s wireless service for leading automakers like Abarth, Acura, Honda, Aston Martin, Audi, BMW, Bentley, Cadillac, Dodge, and more. Apple also offers digital CarKeys and EV routing services but those are not as widely adopted by manufacturers like CarPlay. Recently, it was reported that Apple is working on new technology to control more functions of a car via iPhone like seats and armrests, temperature, fans, settings for adjusting surround-sound speakers, equalizers, tweeters, subwoofers, and the fade and balance, and much more.
