Apple has released iOS 15.1 beta 4 and iPadOS 15.1 beta 4 to developers. The third betas were released a week ago, while the first betas were released a day after iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 were released to the public.
The beta update is available as an over-the-air update to developers who still had the beta profile installed on their iPhone and iPad. The update itself is huge, more than 5GB in size for iPhone 12.

October 13: Apple has released iOS 15.1 and iPadOS 15.1 beta 4 to developers. The update is around 600MB in size for most devices.
What’s new in iOS 15.1 and iPadOS 15.1 beta 3?
October 6: Apple has released iOS 15.1 and iPadOS 15.1 beta 3 to developers. The update is around 900MB in file size for iPhone 12 Pro Max. Here are the new features discovered so far:
- iOS 15.1 beta 3 adds native support for ProRes video capture on iPhone 13 Pro
- iOS 15.1 beta 3 features a new ‘Auto Macro’ toggle to disable automatic camera switching
- iOS 15.1 beta 3 adds native support for ProRes video capture on iPhone 13 Pro
What’s new in iOS 15.1 and iPadOS 15.1 beta 2?
The update, released on September 28, is a little over 800MB in size for iPhone 12 Pro Max. Apple has not provided any release notes yet, but we will update this post as we find any new changes.
What’s new in iOS 15.1 and iPadOS 15.1 beta 1?
At the time of writing, it is unclear as to what is new in this update. We are currently downloading the beta on iPhone and iPad and will update this post once we find any new features and changes.
Apple has posted release notes on Apple Developer Center and they mention a few known issues and bug fixes for Home (Matter accessories support), and SwiftUI (fix for apps becoming unresponsive when using iPad pointer).
You may know that there are a bunch of delayed iOS 15 features that the company announced will be released this fall. These include the following:
- SharePlay
- App privacy reports
- Wallet IDs
- Universal Control
- Find My network support for AirPods
- 3D navigation for Apple Maps
- Digital Legacy
- Custom iCloud email domains
- CSAM scanning feature (not sure if anyone is waiting for this one due to the backlash it received)
There is a possibility that Apple might have enabled any of the delayed features in this beta, but we will update this post once we have confirmation.

- Announce calls in Phone app now has a new icon
- Vaccine cards can now be added to the Wallet app in iOS 15.1
