Apple has released iOS 15.4.1 and iPadOS 15.4.1 for compatible iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch models. The new software update is available now over-the-air for download.
What’s new in iOS 15.4.1 and iPadOS 15.4.1?
This is a minor software update and Apple has not shared any detailed release notes. This update includes the following bug fixes:
- Fixes an issue with the battery draining more quickly after updating
- Fixes issues with braille devices and MFi hearing devices
- Made for iPhone/iPad hearing devices may lose connection within some third-party apps
Apple has also changed the abbreviation in the World Clock widget for Kyiv from KIE to KYI:

This update also includes a security fix for a vulnerability that had been actively exploited.

Available for: iPhone 6s and later, iPad Pro (all models), iPad Air 2 and later, iPad 5th generation and later, iPad mini 4 and later, and iPod touch (7th generation)
Impact: An application may be able to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges. Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited.
Description: An out-of-bounds write issue was addressed with improved bounds checking.
CVE-2022-22675: an anonymous researcher
Apple had previously released iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4 as major software updates with improvements to like Face ID, Emoji, FaceTime, Siri, and more.
Face ID gained support for unlocking while wearing a mask, using Apple Pay, and password autofill. This feature is supported on iPhone 12 and later. The update also included 37 new emojis which included biting lips, heart hands, saluting face, and more.
Siri also gained a new American voice, and support for announcing time and date information when offline on iPhone XR and later. iPhones also got support for Vaccine cards in Health and Wallet apps, to store recovery history, test results, and vaccination status,.

How to install iOS 15.4.1 and iPadOS 15.4.1
To download the new update, go to Settings > General > Software update on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Before you start the update, ensure that you have at least 50% battery charge on your device, sufficient free storage, and a stable Wi-Fi connection.
