Apple has released iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6 to all users. The software updates had been in beta testing for some time.
The first beta update was released just a day after Apple released the final version of iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5 to the general public.
What’s new in iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6?
Final Version
July 20 – Apple has released the final version of iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6 to all users.

iOS 15.6 includes enhancements, bug fixes and security updates.
– TV app adds the option to restart a live sports game already in-progress and pause, rewind, or fast-forward
– Fixes an issue where Settings may continue to display that device storage is full even if it is available
– Fixes an issue that may cause braille devices to slow down or stop responding when navigating text in Mail
– Fixes an issue in Safari where a tab may revert back to a previous page

July 12 – Apple has released iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6 release candidates to developers.
July 18 – Apple has released the second iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6 release candidates to developers.
Beta 5
July 5 – Apple has released the fifth beta builds for iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6
Beta 4
June 28 – The fourth developer and public beta builds for iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6 are now available.
Beta 3
June 15 – The third public betas are now available.
June 14 – The third developer betas are now available.
Beta 2
June 1 – The second public betas are now available.
May 31 – The second developer betas are now available.
Beta 1
May 19 – Apple has released the first public betas.
May 18 – At the time of writing, it is unclear what is new in this new beta. Apple has not shared any release notes on its website, except for a known issue targeted toward developers:
Xcode 13.4 is unable to prepare iOS 15.6 beta devices for development. (93452791)
Workaround: Use Xcode 13.3.1.
The new beta includes the following changes:
- New accessibility options can be found in the code, including the ability to hide Emoji search. There are also some changes to smart home accessory pairing, likely for the upcoming Matter support.

Supported devices
The following devices are compatible with this software update:
- iPhone 6s and later
- iPad Pro (all models)
- iPad Air 2 and later
- iPad 5th generation and later
- iPad mini 4 and later
- iPod touch (7th generation)
Installation
The new beta updates are available for download from the Apple Developer Center, through the use of restore images and beta profiles. Existing users who already have a developer beta profile installed on their iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch can go to Settings > General > Software Update to download the new beta update.
If you do not have an Apple Developer Center account, you can sign up for one at a cost of $99 per year. However, if you know here to look, you can find a beta profile to download without spending any money. It is not recommended though, as downloading beta profiles from an unofficial source could cause issues.
