Apple recently released iOS 16.5 to everyone. Although the latest update does not feature major changes, it brings a new Sports tab in the Apple News app, 2023 Pride wallpapers, and several bug fixes.
More importantly, iOS 16.5 also slightly improves the performance and battery life of compatible iPhone models.

After an update, users usually complain of battery drain issues. But users’ feedback for the latest update is different. After testing the devices on the latest update, multiple YouTubers report that iOS 16.5 improves performance and battery life.
YouTuber @Brandon Butch found that the Geekbench scores for iOS 16.5 were much higher with a 2516 single-core score and 5944 multi-core score in comparison to the previous iOS 16.4.1.
He also said that the battery life on the latest update had significantly improved; he got better screen time and idle time.
In response to YouTuber @Zollotech community poll on iOS 16.5 battery life, 29% of users said it was great, 54% said it was the same and only 11% said it was terrible. This shows that the majority of users who have upgraded their iPhones to the latest update are happy with the battery life.
@Dynamic Tech ran a battery life test on iPhone 14, iPhone 13, iPhone 12, iPhone 11, and iPhone XR running on iOS 16.5. The older iPhone models got up to 6 hours and 15 minutes of battery life on heavy usage and the newer models like iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 achieved 8 hours of battery life on heavy usage.
If you have not updated your iPhone to the latest iOS version over battery life and performance concerns, then you should do it right away because it also includes bug and security fixes.
Having said that users have reported that iOS 16.5 broke Apple’s Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter they were not able to power their iPhone and iPad. The issue is likely caused by a bug that will be patched in an upcoming update.
