Apple has announced the new iOS 16 update packed with new features and technologies including the next generation of CarPlay. The new CarPlay will be able to display content for multiple screens in an automobile; users will be able to change radio or climate directly through CarPlay, along with rendering the vehicles fuel level, speed, and other instrument clusters.
CarPlay is a wireless service that allows drivers to use their iPhones safely through the built-in display of their automobiles. They can make and answer calls, send and receive text messages, get directions, play music, and more.
iOS 16 brings a whole new CarPlay experience with personalized options, widgets, and more
The new iOS 16 delivers a whole new unified and consistent CarPlay experience by covering all of the screens within a vehicle, “driving information on instrument cluster displays and control of the radio and HVAC”. However, the new CarPlay version will be specific to each vehicle as per their screen shapes and layouts.
Furthermore, fueling and driving task apps are now available in CarPlay to help users to fill their gas tanks and get toll support, road information, and more. Siri can also be set to send a message automatically after reading it to the user.
More interestingly, users will be able to customize their driving experience to reflect their personality by setting different gauge cluster designs, adding widgets to get information at a glance, and more on their car’s dashboard.
Users will be updated on the next generation of CarPlay in the future press releases, and vehicle announcements will start in late 2023.
