After the release of the new iOS 16 to the public, Apple updated the Wallet app’s details with additional information on the updates features page. The Wallet app on iOS 16 supports multi-stay hotel keys and can add keys directly from Safari. It also mentions the availability time of the Apple Pay later service.
Previously, the release notes of the update listed that the Wallet app supports Apple Pay Order Tracking with a detailed receipt for Apple Pay purchases, ID verification with apps, and Apple Account card top-up.
Wallet app will add Apple Pay Later service in future iOS 16 update
According to the updated iOS 16 features page, the Wallet app will allow users to add new keys from a website in Safari directly and securely, without the need for an app.
Add keys from Safari
You can now securely add new keys to your iPhone and Apple Watch directly from a website in Safari without having to download an app.
Users can add multiple digital keys issued by the same hotel in the app.
Multi-stay hotel keys
You no longer need to add a new hotel key in Wallet for each new reservation: A single key allows you to check in and unlock your room for all your upcoming stays at hotels within the same brand.
In the fine print of the page, it is stated that the new Apple Pay Later will be available in an upcoming update. The payment service will allow users to split the cost of their Apple Pay Later purchases into four payments over six weeks with no interest or additional fees.
However, the service will be only compatible with iPhones and iPad, and in select states in the United States.
