Apple has released the new iOS 17.1.2 and iPadOS 17.1.2 update to the general public. The surprise update is centered on patching security vulnerabilities actively exploited in the wild.
The Cupertino tech giant has also released macOS Sonoma 14.1.2 which also features security fixes for vulnerabilities in 17.1.2 and iPadOS 17.1.2.

Although the update’s release notes briefly mention that it provides security fixes, Apple’s support page for security releases details that it patches two WebKit security bugs that were actively exploited.

Impact: Processing web content may disclose sensitive information. Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been exploited against versions of iOS before iOS 16.7.1.

The update is available for the following iOS and iPadOS devices:
- iPhone XS and later
- iPad Pro 12.9-inch 2nd generation and later
- iPad Pro 10.5-inch
- iPad Pro 11-inch 1st generation and later
- iPad Air 3rd generation and later
- iPad 6th generation and later
- iPad mini 5th generation and later
In addition to macOS Sonoma, the security fixes are also available on older Macs running on macOS Monterey and macOS Ventura via the new Safari 17.1.2 update.
Apple is expected to release iOS 17.2 to everyone in December. Currently, the update is in the beta testing phase which includes several new features like the Jounral app, Apple Music, Default Alert sounds, Siri integration with the Health app, Spatial video for Vision Pro feature on iPhone 15 Pro models, and more.
