Apple has recently rolled out iOS 18.1 beta 3 and iPadOS 18.1 beta 3 to developers, offering a glimpse of the new features powered by Apple Intelligence.
These betas represent an early preview of what’s to come later this fall, with the iOS 18.1 update expected to introduce a series of enhancements designed to elevate the user experience on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models.
One of the standout features in this beta is the introduction of the “Clean Up” tool in the Photos app, which enables users to remove unwanted objects from their images. This tool resembles Google’s Magic Eraser, allowing users to clean up photos by detecting and eliminating distractions without affecting the main subject. Whether it’s a blemish or a distracting object, Clean Up uses advanced machine learning models to seamlessly fill in the background, making it a powerful addition to Apple’s suite of photo editing tools.
iOS 18.1 beta 3 also continues to improve the Apple Intelligence suite, which is not available in the EU or China. With features like Writing Tools that assist in rewriting, proofreading, and summarizing text across various apps, and an improved Siri that maintains context between requests, the tech giant is positioning its AI advancements as a major selling point for its latest devices. The new Siri design, which includes the ability to type queries, offers a more flexible and responsive experience, especially for users who may stumble over words or shift mid-sentence.
Another significant update in iOS 18.1 beta 3 is the expansion of notification summaries to all apps, not just Messages and Mail. This allows users to quickly scan and prioritize notifications directly from their lock screen, streamlining the way they manage incoming information. Additionally, the Photos app has seen further tweaks, such as the removal of the Carousel and adjustments to the “All Photos” section, offering a more intuitive and user-friendly interface.
