Apple has officially released the third beta versions of iOS 18.3, iPadOS 18.3, and macOS 15.3 to developers, coming just over a week after the previous beta. The new beta builds are primarily focused on bug fixes, stability, and a handful of enhancements that subtly improve the user experience.
One of the most anticipated features, robot vacuum support for the Home app, remains absent. Although strings discovered in the iOS 18.3 beta code suggest its arrival, this functionality has been delayed until 2025. Once implemented, robot vacuum manufacturers will be able to integrate their products with Apple’s Home app, bringing smart home automation to the next level. Another notable addition involves enterprise-level controls over satellite communication. Companies utilizing Mobile Device Management (MDM) will gain the ability to disable this feature for employees, a change aimed at industries like defense and space where communication control is critical.
On the visual side, Apple has updated Camera Control icons to match the aesthetic of Dark Mode, a minor change but one that highlights Apple’s commitment to a cohesive design language. Additionally, iOS 18.3 resolves a Calculator bug that previously removed the ability to repeat math operations, restoring this essential function to the utility app.
While this beta doesn’t feature major enhancements for Apple Intelligence, future updates are expected to bring more robust capabilities. For instance, the Image Playground feature is set to receive a Sketch style option in a forthcoming release, enabling users to create vibrant and technically detailed drawings. Furthermore, improvements to Siri might eventually introduce contextual awareness, such as recognizing specific activities or recent purchases to deliver more personalized suggestions.
The macOS Sequoia 15.3 beta adds support for Genmoji, an expressive avatar feature that was missing from the last major macOS update. Similarly, visionOS 2.3 beta temporarily disables Summarize Notifications for News and Entertainment categories due to criticisms about the feature’s accuracy.
For developers, the new beta builds, including iOS 18.3 beta 3 and its counterparts for iPadOS, macOS, visionOS, and tvOS, are now available for download. Eligible devices can access the updates via the Settings app under General > Software Update. As always, developers are encouraged to back up their devices before installing the beta.
