iPad mini to get thin bezel redesign and 8.4-inch display in 2021 update

Apple is working on a new sixth-generation iPad mini which will feature thin bezels, similar to iPad Pro and iPad Air. Because of the thin bezels, it will also see a bump in screen size, from 7.9-inch to 8.4-inch.

The new iPad mini is expected to launch in March 2021 and will replace the previous generation model. Like the iPad Air, it is expected that the new iPad mini will continue to feature a Lightning port, and not a USB-C port. It will also feature Touch ID, likely on its power button, instead of making the jump to Face ID.

Apple had released the fifth-generation iPad mini in March 2019. It features an A12 Bionic chip and Apple Pencil support. With the new update, it is expected that Apple will upgrade the internals, and also bump up the cameras.

Mac Otakara reported the below based on information from Chinese suppliers:

According to the Chinese suppliers, the next iPad mini (6th Generation), which will be released in March, going to replace

From previous 7.9-inch display To an 8.4-inch display.

It’s a narrow frame like iPad Air (3rd generation), and the design goes with iPad (9th Generation), which continues to use Touch ID and Lightning port.

Mac Otakara had previously reported that Apple is also preparing to launch its ninth-generation 10.2-inch iPad, however, there has been no news regarding a redesign for this particular model. The only upgrades rumored for the base-model iPad are faster internals, lighter weight, and display improvements.

11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro are also expected to get upgrades in March 2021, as per Mac Otakara.

The iPad Pro 11-inch (3rd generation) and iPad Pro 12.9-inch (5th generation), rumored to be announced in March 2021, will have their iPad Pro 11-inch (2nd generation)、iPad Pro 12.9-inch (4th generation) and housing design unchanged, but the sound has been reviewed and the number of speaker holes on the sides has been reduced by two-thirds. Sources say the speaker’s hole position is also new

As for the rear camera, the overall outs of the camera unit remains the same, but the lens cover portion is no longer stretched.

As for the rumored mini LED display, sources say it may be an option for the 12.9-inch model as only the iPad Pro 12.9-inch (5th generation) will increase in thickness by 0.5mm
