A report by Mac Takara claims that the new 12.9-inch and 11-inch iPad Pro models will feature a 4-pin connector. The current tablets are equipped with a 3-pin Smart connector.
Industry sources report that Apple will launch upgraded models of both 12.9-inch and 11-inch iPad Pro models later this year which will be powered by an M2 processor, wireless charging, and an improved camera system. It is also reported that this year, Apple will expand the mini-LED display in the 11-inch iPad Pro maybe to offer 120Hz ProMotion tech.
With the same design as the current models, the new iPad Pro will feature a 4-pin connector on the top and bottom sides
According to the report, the tech giant will continue with the same design language of the current iPad Pro in the 2022 models but will equip them with 4-pin connectors at the top and bottom sides.
As a Smart connector has 3 pins and MagSafe 3 connector has 5-pins, the new 4-pin connector will be used for some other purpose. It might be used to power an attached accessory like a keyboard.
According to reliable sources in China, the next iPad Pro 12.9-inch (6th generation) and iPad Pro 11-inch (4th generation) will have the same housing design as the current iPad Pro series, but the top and bottom sides I’m talking about equipping the end with a 4-pin connector.
This 4-pin connector is an iPad with an M1 chip, and since iPadOS 16 and macOS DriverKit can be used, it is expected that it may be a terminal to assist the power supply of peripheral devices connected to the Thunderbolt / USB-C port.
In 2024, it is also expected that Apple will upgrade the Pro tablets lineup with OLED display tech improved with LTPO to offer deeper blacks, sharper colors, and high contrast ratio.
