Mark your calendars! The much-awaited refresh of the iPad Pro and iPad Air is on the horizon. According to a new report from Bloomberg’s renowned tech analyst, Mark Gurman, Apple is gearing up to unveil its latest iterations of these popular tablets during the second week of May 2024.
New iPad Pro and iPad Air slated to arrive soon with supercharged performance and stunning displays
Gurman’s insights indicate that Apple will likely launch the new iPad Pro and iPad Air models between May 6th and May 12th. This aligns with previous speculations, adding credibility to the anticipated release window.
For those looking for more specific timing, I’m told the launch will probably happen the week of May 6. Another data point to that end: Apple retail stores are preparing to receive new product marketing materials later that week. That’s typically a sign that a new product release is incoming. It’s also worth reiterating — as I reported at the end of March — that the complex new iPad screens are behind the roughly one month delay from the initial March release plan.
The preparation of Apple retail stores with new product marketing materials further strengthens the likelihood of an imminent product launch.
iPad Pro
The upcoming iPad Pro models are expected to feature the groundbreaking M3 chip, offering unparalleled performance and efficiency. These tablets will also debut OLED displays, delivering enhanced visual quality and immersive viewing experiences. Design refinements include a thinner enclosure, reduced bezels, and a matte screen option.
Additionally, landscape-oriented front cameras and potential MagSafe wireless charging integration are expected in the models. This powerhouse combination promises to redefine multitasking and creative workflows, making the new iPad Pro a must-have for professionals and enthusiasts, at a potentially more accessible price point.
iPad Air
The new iPad Air lineup is set to receive a performance boost with the M2 chip, ensuring swift and responsive multitasking for demanding apps. These models will also feature landscape-oriented front cameras, improve video calls, and may introduce the first-ever 12.9-inch iPad Air, expanding user choice for creative workflows and entertainment.
Accessories
In addition to the revamped tablets, Apple is expected to introduce updated accessories to improve the user experience. This includes a new Magic Keyboard boasting an aluminum enclosure and larger trackpad, as well as a redesigned Apple Pencil with innovative features such as a “squeeze” gesture for enhanced functionality.
