As a rarity, this year Apple delayed the launch of iPadOS 16 by a month, the company usually releases it with iOS 16 in September. iPadOS 16.1 is current in beta testing phase.
Now, Mark Gurman from Bloomberg reports that iPadOS 16.1 is on track to release in the “week of Oct. 24th” which falls in the fourth week of this month which is another rarity.
iPadOS 16.1 to release in the same week of Apple’s Q4, 2022 earnings report
Previously, Apple announced that it would publish Q4, 2022 earnings report on October 27 which falls in the same week as iPadOS 16.1 expected release on October 24. Gurman notes that Apple usually holds on launches in the week of the earnings call this month.
iPadOS 16.1 is on track to be released the week of Oct. 24th — barring any new bugs or issues. Apple has historically held launches the week of its earnings calls in October.
iPadOS 16 was allegedly delayed because of performance issues with Stage Manager, a new multitasking feature designed for users to easily and quickly switch between tasks by automatically organizing apps and windows. Users can even create overlapping windows of different sizes in a single view and drag and drop windows from the side, or open apps from the Dock to create groups of apps.
Earlier this month, developers still reported issues with the headlining Stage Manager feature on iPadOS 16. Therefore, the tech giant is going to release iPadOS 16.1 with no bugs or issues.
Other expected features on the upcoming iPadOS 16.1 update are new Display modes, Message with the ability to edit and undo messages, smart search corrections in the Mail app, shared tab groups in Safari, Live Text in videos, and several improvements to Weather, Photos, Home and other apps, along with security upgrades. New Freeform and iCloud Shared Photo Library will launch later this year.
