Both the iPhone 12 mini and the iPhone 12 Pro Max will be available for pre-order on November 6 and launch in stores a week later. But prospective customers do not have to wait to see a hands-on of the smaller model, thanks to a YouTuber who managed to get his hands on one earlier than others and posted an extensive preview on his channel, ahead of its release.
The video is entirely in Romanian, and there aren’t any subtitles or captions available. However, the YouTuber does offer a first real-world look at the iPhone 12 mini, and its new 5.4-inch display along with side-by-side comparisons to other iPhone 12 models.
First iPhone 12 mini hands-on video
The over 40-minutes-long video from the Romanian YouTuber George Buhnici serves as a first look at the iPhone 12 mini outside of Apple’s special event earlier this month.
The video offers a look at the iPhone 12 mini design and size, showing how it compares against the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro, both of which feature a 6.1-inch display. Buhnici also gives a look at how various parts of iOS 14 are optimized for the 5.4-inch display, as well as a look at the camera technology. The camera on the mini model of the new smartphone series has amazing zoom and picture quality.
The comparison images with other smartphones illustrate how small the mini really is. The 5.4-inch smallest iPhone features the same all-screen display with a flat edge-to-edge design. The notch appears to be slightly bigger in size, but that’s only because the compact smartphone has a smaller footprint than the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro.
The new iPhone 12 mini offers most of the high-end features for a much lower price. Starting at $699, the smartphone is powered by the fastest smartphone chip, A14 Bionic, supports 5G, features an OLED display with ceramic shield protection, a dual-camera system with wide and ultra-wide lens and Dolby Vision HDR video recording, and more.
The iPhone 12 mini, along with the larger iPhone 12 Pro Max, will go up for preorder at 5 a.m. on Friday, November 6.
