MagSafe charger helps man to recover iPhone 12 Pro from a lake in Berline

Apple launched the new iPhone 12 series with MagSafe accessories and the MagSafe wireless charger helped an iPhone 12 Pro owner in recovering his smartphone from a lake in Berlin, Germany. To his luck, the smart come out of the water in working condition, in spite of being submerged for hours.

MagSafe chargers attach magnetically to the smartphone’s back, but some complained that the charger’s puck is not strong enough to hold the iPhone securely. Famous YouTuber MKBHD criticized Apple for that lacking in his review video but we guess the strength is good enough to fish out a dropped iPhone 12 Pro.

The owner’s friend @frederikRiedel shared the details of the incident on his Twitter account. Riedel said that on May 30, his friend dropped his The man had dropped his iPhone 12 Pro in three feet deep water. He tried to retrieve it but the mud made it difficult to find the smartphone. So they secured MagSafe wireless charged to the end of the fishing rod and pulled out the submerged mobile.

The best part was that the smartphone bore it all, the mobile had a full battery and was functional. However, Riedel did not mention how did they dry the smartphone, and if they used the Find My app to locate it.

Apple does not market its products as waterproof but gives an IP68 rating with a maximum depth of 6 meters up to 30 minutes. But the recovered iPhone 12 models are holding strong against water damage. Previously, a Reddit user @u/Duritomax dropped his iPhone 12 Pro Max in Mille Lacs State Park in Minnesota, the U.S on an ice fishing trip. Fortunately, he retrieved it after 18 long hours from frozen water in a working condition. Duritomax tracked the smartphone via the Find My app.
