Several months after Apple announced a service program for iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro users who were experiencing sound issues with their device due to a component issue with the receiver module, the company is now expanding the same program to the United Arab Emirates.
Service program for iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro users experiencing no sound issues expanded to UAE
According to the Khaleej Times, the Cupertino tech giant announced this recall in the UAE for iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro models manufactured between October 2020 and April 2021. In a support document from August, Apple said your iPhone is eligible for the service if it “does not emit sound from the receiver when you make or receive calls.”
Back when the service program was announced, it was estimated that only a small percentage of iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro devices may experience sound issues. However, now that the program has been expanded to a country outside of the United States, we do not know the exact number of devices that may be affected.
How to determine if your device is eligible for no sound recall
Note that the program only covers iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro, not iPhone 12 mini or iPhone 12 Pro Max. Those impacted by the issue can take their iPhone 12 or 12 Pro model to Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider for service free of charge. Users can choose one of the options below to have their device serviced.
- Find an Apple Authorized Service Provider.
- Make an appointment at an Apple Retail Store.
- Contact Apple Support to arrange mail-in service via the Apple Repair Center.
The support document says that if your iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro has any damage which impairs the ability to complete the repair, such as a cracked screen, that issue will need to be resolved prior to the service. And of course, your iPhone will be checked prior to any service to ensure that it is eligible for the program.
