iPhone 12 will ship with a USB-C to Lightning braided cable, claims leaker

A Twitter handle, known for Apple-related leaks, claims that the upcoming iPhone 12 will have a new charging cable. @duanrui1205 tweeted pictures of the new USB-C to Lightning braided data cable for the new flagship smartphone. Currently, a standard USB-C to Lightning cable retails for $19 for 1m and $35 for 2m.

The new data cable will have a more durable and universal design because of its braided exterior and the USB-C port will resolve the concern of right or wrong side to plug-in. The cable should also allow for fast charging when connected to a USB-C power delivery charger.

This leak does not mention any power adapter which corroborates with a report by an anonymous Twitter handle @L0vetodream claiming that Apple will not include an adaptor in iPhone 12’s box. According to the leaker, the iPhone manufacturer will also exclude the adaptor from the iPhone SE 2 box as an attempt to reduce electronic waste and redesign the packaging boxes of iPhones to be thinner.

In June, Barclay’s analysts further reported that Cupertino tech giant might not include a power adaptor and EarPods in the box of the new iPhone 12 and consumers will only get a USB-C to Lightning cable in the package. Based on the circulating news, ConceptsiPhones released a slim and sleek concept design of the new smartphone’s packaging tray without an adaptor and EarPods.

On the contrary, @Mr.White on Twitter shared that some models of the new Flagship smartphone series will have a powerful 20W adaptor in the box.

Expected to release this fall, the new iPhone 12 will be the fastest and most technologically advanced smartphone by Apple to date. Running on iOS 14, the new smartphone will support 5G connectivity, OLED displays for all models, better Face ID authentication sensors, a 3 cameras system with LiDAR sensor, and much more. The reported retail price of all the models of the upcoming flagship series will be $50 to $150 higher than the current iPhone 11 models.
