Analyst maintains iPhone 13 will offer up to 1TB storage, coming out in 3rd week of September

The American investment firm, Wedbush reiterates that Apple will offer a 1TB iPhone 13 model. Currently, 512GB is the maximum storage capacity offered by the company. 1 terabyte is equal to 1,000 GB (gigabytes), so a 1TB storage tier will be a major upgrade for the upcoming iPhone series.

Previously, Wedbush’s analyst Danial Ives claimed that Apple will offer LiDAR scanners in all four models of the upcoming smartphone series and will enhance the storage space up to 1TB. Both claims have been refuted by other tech analysts. Ming-Chi Kuo says that LiDAR scanners will only be reserved for iPhone 13 Pro models like iPhone 12 Pro models and TrendForce reported that Apple will continue with the same iPhone 12 (128 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB) storage space options and price in the upcoming iPhone series. Referring to the new series as iPhone 12s, the

Judging by the iPhone 12s series’ starting prices as well as the differences among various models’ retail prices, TrendForce expects the new handsets’ memory capacities to remain the same as their iPhone 12 counterparts.

Analyst repeats claim of 1TB iPhone 13 launching in September

Despite contradictory reports from credible sources, Wedbush repeats its former claims that the upcoming series will have more memory capacity and LiDAR scanner across the series.

From a spec perspective, we have increased confidence that iPhone 13 will have a 1 terabyte storage option which is double from the highest Pro storage capacity today (512GB) and will also include a number of enhancements with Lidar across all iPhone 13 models.

The analyst predicts that as production is on track, the new iPhone series launch timing will be “normal”, the third week of September. Furthermore, Wedbush estimates that the demand for the iPhone 13 will be “similar/slightly stronger” than iPhone 12, and the company’s supercycle will continue in 2022.

Asia supply chain builds for iPhone 13 are currently in the ~90 million/100 million unit range compared to our initial iPhone 12 reads at 80 million units (pre-COVID) and represents a ~15% increase YoY out of the gates.

While this number will clearly move around over the coming months (chip shortage volatility adds to it), we believe this speaks to an increased confidence with Cook & Co. that this 5G driven product cycle will extend well into 2022 and should also benefit from a post vaccine consumer “reopening environment”.

Earlier, Apple leaker and YouTuber, Jon Prosser also stated that iPhone 13 Pro will come with up to 1TB data storage. Currently, iPad Pro models offer 1TB and 2TB storage options.
