As per a new report from research firm TrendForce, Apple will release all four models of its upcoming iPhone 13 lineup in September with larger battery sizes, an A15 updated chipset, and expanded mmWave 5G support.
iPhone 13 to launch in September with larger batteries, A15 and improved 5G support – Report
TrendForce says the Cupertino tech giant will return to its typical September release timeline, which was disrupted for last year’s iPhone 12 launch due to the ongoing COVID-19 health crisis. In addition to this, the report states that total iPhone shipments could see a 30% year-over-year growth in the third quarter of 2021.
The report also discusses some of the new features the research firm expects on the upcoming iPhone 13 models. Firstly, TrendForce echoed previous rumors that the tech giant will adopt a new circuit board over its previous rigid-flex PCB design. The new design will provide space for a larger battery.
The report also says the new iPhone lineup will be priced the same as iPhone 12 because it will not feature any “significant hardware upgrades”. Additionally, the firm expects the lineup to feature a new 5nm A15 chipset and expand mmWave 5G support to more countries.
Previous reports have indicated that the new phone could get larger batteries:
Multiple sources are sharing information that claims to show the battery capacities for the iPhone 13 lineup that would mean a huge jump in capacity across the board over iPhone 12.
Multiple users on Weibo have shared images reportedly showing models of battery that will feature in the next iPhone, expected to debut later this year.
The information, contained within the depicted table shows three sizes of battery, 4352mAh, 3095mAh, and 2406mAh.
A separate report recently suggested that iPhone 13 Pro could feature a new 120Hz ProMotion display and major upgrades to its camera system like ProRes video recording. With a rumored iPhone event slated for September, we won’t have to wait long to see what iPhone 13 will offer.
