Among the many reports and rumors regarding the hardware specifications of the upcoming iPhone 13, alleged photos acquired by a reputable source show that the next-generation iPhone will come with a visibly smaller notch which will move the earpiece towards the top bezel.
It was previously reported that the iPhone 13 will be shipped with a smaller notch to make room for a new Face ID system. The notch would feature a flood illuminator for better detail detection, better depth, and an upgraded Ultra-wide lens.
Redesigned iPhone 13 will come with a smaller notch and earpiece moved towards the top bezel
iRepair, a Greek repair expert, shared a few alleged pictures of the front glass panel for the upcoming smartphone model. It can be seen in the photos that the notch is visibly smaller than the previous generation of iPhones, and the earpiece moved towards the top bezel.
The notch’s design has been constant since the launch of the iPhone X in 2017. Since then it has remained for four-generations, rumors initially suggested that the iPhone 12 series would feature a reduced notch. But it seemed like it was pushed till this year. It was reported by Kuo that Apple intends to switch to a punch-hole display design for the later 2022 models. Another rumor suggested that iPhone 13 will be shipped with a 120Hz display and a larger battery.
Apart from the notch, iPhone 13 is expected to be launched in September as per schedule. A Barclays analyst says that the new smartphone lineup will “likely” feature a fingerprint scanner under the display. However, this contradicts a report from Wedbush analyst Dan Ives says that the LiDAR scanner could be expanded to the entire lineup of iPhone 13. A new concept video imagined what the long-rumored always-on display would look like on iPhone 13, and the upcoming lineup could provide up to 1TB of storage.
