A new leak has emerged showing aluminum models of the upcoming iPhone 14 range offering a first look at what the models could look like. The leak, in line with previous reports, reveals that Apple is finally going to drop the ‘mini’ this year in place of an ‘iPhone 14 Max’ variant.
Physical models of the iPhone 14 lineup leaked – no ‘mini’
As rumors about Apple’s upcoming flagship iPhone are starting to increase, physical models of the lineup have started to surface. The models are largely in line with the leaked schematics we have seen.
Posted to Weibo by Quick Review Lab, the most recent leak shows four models labeled with their model and screen size. The standard and Pro versions each consist of versions with a 6.7-inch screen and a 6.1-inch screen, reconfirming the loss of the ‘mini’ model.
Another thing to note from these models is the increased size of the camera bump. The Pro models, with three camera lenses, have a bigger bump than the standard models with two cameras on the back.
Despite how definitive physical models may seem, they usually follow the same specifications that are mentioned in rumors and schematic leaks, making them just as speculative as CAD renders.
However, physical models do offer an advantage for accessory makers, allowing them to test new products like cases ahead of time so they are ready to sell their products by the time a new lineup is launched.
According to industry reports and other rumors, the iPhone 14 Pro is widely expected to feature a hole punch + pill cutout in place of a notch. Apple is expected to unveil its latest flagship iPhone lineup this year with a new A16 Bionic chip exclusive to the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max only. It has also been reported that the lineup will feature 8GB RAM, a heavier titanium casing, and a 2TB storage variant.
