Shortly after it was reported that production of the iPhone 14 would begin in India two months after the lineup is announced, filings for the upcoming models have been discovered in the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).
iPhone 14 filings found in India ahead of rumored September 7 announcement
As reported by MySmartPrice, the upcoming iPhone is filed under the model number “A2882,” however, there is no coinciding model name. Other iPhone models listed previously on the BIS website are the iPhone XR (A2105), iPhone 11 (A2221), iPhone 12 (A2403), and the iPhone 13 (A2633), the publication revealed. Though there is not much to learn from Apple model numbers, the database filings help give an idea of when the products may launch.
The tech giant’s devices have to be registered in a country’s database before they can be sold in that area. So, a listing is a good indicator of a product being near launch. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has stated that the event will take place on September 7. TF Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has also said that the announcement and shipping date of the iPhone 14 lineup may take place earlier than the previous two generations so that the Cupertino tech giant can have a strong third quarter.
This year’s standard iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max are set to feature the same design as their predecessor with the same A15 chip. On the other hand, the Pro models are expected to get the A16 chip, the above-mentioned pill + hole punch cutout for the display, and major camera upgrades. All models are expected to feature 6GB of RAM.and support 30W charging. As for the internal storage of the device, there are some conflicting reports about whether it will start from 128GB or 256GB, given the price hike.
In addition to this, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman and TF Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo have reported that the Pro models will feature an upgraded front camera. As revealed by Kuo, the front camera will feature autofocus which will offer sharper images and improved picture quality.
Furthermore, the camera will also have a 6-element lens instead of a 5-element lens, which will also add to the image quality. The rear-end camera for the Pro models will be upgraded to 48MP which will enable 8K video recording.
