Despite the fact that Apple’s main iPhone assembler Foxconn is struggling to resume production in full swing, lead times for the iPhone 14 Pro are improving outside of China.
Estimated delivery dates for iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max see slight improvement
According to week 12 of JP Morgan’s Apple Product Availability Tracker, lead times for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus have increased globally. On the other hand, lead times for the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max are down to 35 days, compared to 41 days last week.
In Week 12 of our Apple Product Availability Tracker, there appear to be further encouraging trends in relation to supply improvement, with lead times for iPhone Pro models moderating in most regions outside of China.
JP Morgan notes that the lineup’s lead times suggest that Foxconn’s production issues in China will take a while to settle but, the worst part of the cycle has passed.
The elevated lead times reveal that supply challenges in relation to the COVID outbreak in Zhengzhou, China, are still ongoing and it will take time for supply and demand to reach balance relative to years past; that said, the moderating lead times appear indicative of cycling past the worst in relation to supply challenges as we pointed out last week.
The report goes on to state that the ongoing challenges around returning to normal production in China could have a negative impact on the speed with which supply-demand equilibrium can be reached.
As for the iPhone 14 models, their lead times stand at 4 days in the United States, up from 3 days last week. Lead times for Pro models in the region now stand at 33 days, down from 40 days. In addition, the standard models are available for same-day pickup but the iPhone 14 Pro models are not.
In China, the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro are seeing the longest lead times at 43 days. Estimated delivery dates for the base models are stable at 2 days.
In Germany, lead times for the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max are 32 days, down from 39 days. In the United Kingdom, estimated delivery dates for the Pro variants are 33 days down from 40 days. In both regions, lead times for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus are now 4 days, up from 1 day.
