Customers who pre-ordered the new iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro are starting to receive their orders. However, not all customers who pre-ordered the new iPhones will be receiving them on launch day.
Numerous reports circulating on social media suggest that the Cupertino tech giant is delaying some iPhone 14 Pro orders that were placed on September 9.
iPhone 14 Pro shipments already starting to see delays, even for pre-orders
When pre-orders for this year’s iPhone 14 lineup went live, both the Apple Store Online and the Apple Store app faced numerous issues including the website not loading, financing, verification, and credit cards not working. For a small number of buyers whose orders were put through eventually, the shipping dates slipped by a week.
A similar issue hit Apple’s service last year with the launch of the iPhone 13 lineup for at least 30 minutes after pre-orders opened. However, shipping dates did not slip for customers.
Now, 9to5Mac is reporting that some customers who were quoted a delivery on September 16 will not receive their order on the day.
In most cases, Apple is pushing these estimated delivery dates back by around a week to September 23, but we’ve also heard from readers whose orders have been pushed to September 30. Some buyers were notified earlier this week about the delays, while others weren’t informed until today.
Keeping in mind that Apple was expecting strong demand for this year’s iPhone 14 Pro models, it seems strange that the company was not prepared for the volume of pre-orders as the issue seems to be largely exclusive to the Pro models.
The notable differences between this year’s iPhones include the A16 Bionic chip being exclusive to the Pro models as well as a 48MP camera system and a new design for the display. The display of the iPhone 14 Pro models is also 120Hz and supports an always-on display functionality.
Hopefully, customers who pre-ordered the new iPhone 14 Pro will receive it in a timely manner. As of right now, the delays do not seem to be affecting a significant number of buyers but that could change.
If you place an order for the new iPhone 14 Pro models today, Apple is quoting delivery estimates of mid-to-late October. The iPhone 14 is not experiencing the same delays while the iPhone 14 Plus is not scheduled to launch until October 7.
