Next year’s iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max to be further differentiated by Apple

Apple recently launched the iPhone 14 lineup. Out of the four models in the lineup, the higher-end 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max has seen the most demand which leads analysts to believe that the tech giant will further differentiate next year’s iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. The differentiation we are referring to here means that the iPhone 15 Pro Max will come equipped with exclusive features and it will no longer just be a larger Pro iPhone.

iPhone 15 Pro models to offer different features, analyst claims

Last week, Kuo revealed that the new iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models will account for 60–65% of the total iPhone 14 shipments in the second half of this year. Out of the 60-65% of iPhone 14 Pro shipments, the Pro Max will account for 30–35% of shipments as it is seeing the most demand.

Now, TF Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is saying that Apple could be encouraged to create a wider gap between next year’s Pro iPhones considering the amount of demand the iPhone 14 Pro models are experiencing right now.

In addition to this, it was recently revealed that Apple asked its main iPhone supplier Foxconn to dismantle five production lines that were being used to manufacture the standard ‌iPhone 14‌ in Zhengzhou, China. The move will allow Foxconn to prioritize production of the iPhone 14 Pro.

Now, let’s talk about how the increasing demand for the iPhone 14 Pro Max relates to next year’s lineup. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman recently said that Apple might replace the iPhone Pro Max suffix in next year’s lineup, in favor of calling the model “Ultra.” The move could be meant to create a wider gap between the two higher-end models. Kuo has also said that Apple will start “creating differentiation between the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the iPhone 15 Pro,” which will allow it “to generate more sales/profits in a mature market.
