Ahead of the launch of the iPhone 14 series expected in September this year, rumor mills are sharing details of the iPhone 15 series, already. Set to launch in 2023, analyst Jeff Pu claims that iPhone 15 Pro models will be equipped with a periscope lens to offer an improved 5x optical zoom.
Since iPhone 12 series, Apple has been introduced additional advanced features in the Pro models, especially in the camera systems, to distinguish them from the 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch base models. iPhone 12 Pro models came with Sensor Image Stabilization, iPhone 13 Pro models offer 120Hz ProMotion display and macro photography mode. The upcoming iPhone 14 Pro models are expected to feature 48 mega-pixel cameras, punch-hole displays, and more.
Another report confirms iPhone 15 Pro models will ship with a periscope lens by Lante Optics
Pu’s new report, viewed by 9to5Mac, reiterates that the 2023 iPhone series’ Pro models will feature a periscope lens which will be supplied by Lante Optics. The supplier is said to provide 100 million components to the tech giant which will drastically increase Lante Optics’ revenue.
Previously, Pu stated that the 2023 iPhone Pro models will feature a periscope lens presumably with 10x Optical Zoom like some currently available Android smartphones like Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, Oppo Reno, Pixel 4XL, OnePlus 8 Pro, Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro. But his new report clarifies that iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max will come with a periscope lens with 5x optical zoom which will be a major upgrade with iPhone 13 Pro models 3x optical zoom.
Reportedly, Apple wants to introduce a periscope lens in 2023 iPhone Pro models with specific folded zoom tech that would not protrude out of the camera module and will allow the company to remove the rear camera bumps.
It was speculated that the tech giant will order the components from LG Innotek to expand its supply chain and reduce the reliance on Samsung which currently owns the tech’s patents.
