iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus specifications leaked, features f1.9 camera

With the iPhone 7 launch event only a few days away, the specifications list for iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus have been leaked online via Chinese social networking website Weibo. Most of the items in the specifications seem to be expected, however, there are a few surprises in there.

iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus specifications leaked, features f1.9 camera

Here is the complete leaked specs list:

iPhone 7

  • 4.7-inch screen with 750×1334 resolution
  • A10 and M10 processors
  • 2GB LPDDR4 RAM
  • 1960 mAh battery
  • 12-megapixel camera with 1/2.6-inch sensor and F/1.9, 1:3 micron pixels

iPhone 7 Plus

  • 5.5-inch screen with  1080×1920 resolution
  • A10 and M10 processors
  • 3GB LPDDR4 RAM
  • 2910 mAh battery
  • Two 12 megapixel cameras with 1/3-inch sensor and F/1.9

The major highlights see to be the new processors, RAM, and cameras. Despite the iPhone 6s being almost a year old, its dual-core A9 processor still runs circles around the competition which try to cram in more cores and higher clock speeds in the name of performance. The other major upgrade is the camera sensor in both models. iPhone 7 gets a new lens with F/1.9 aperture and larger sensor, while the iPhone 7 plus will get two of them. Perhaps the dual camera system is also why iPhone 7 plus will have 3GB RAM, compared to 2GB in iPhone 7.

It is expected that both new iPhone 7 models will have optical image stabilization for still capture and video recording. In the past, only iPhone plus models had OIS.

The new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will ship with iOS 10, currently in beta testing. iOS 10 has a new design and multiple new features which include an open API for Siri, updated notification center, improved 3D touch functionality on the home screen with widgets, face recognition and contextual search in Photos app.
