If your iPhone is stuck in a bootloop on the Apple logo screen or continues restarting, after updating to iOS 16, here is a fix that we suggest for you to try and resolve the problem.
How to fix iOS 16 bootloop issue
After updating to iOS 16, if you run into an issue where your iPhone keeps restarting continuously or stays stuck on the Apple logo screen, here is what you should do.
- First of all, if your iPhone screen has been stuck for a while, plug its charger in. You do not want your iPhone to shut down during the update process due to losing battery charge.
- If you notice that even after 30 minutes or an hour, your iPhone is stuck, you will have to put it in recovery mode. Here’s how:
- Press and release the Volume Up button. Press and release the Volume Down button. Press and hold the Side button until the recovery mode screen shows up
- Once your iPhone is in recovery mode, connect it to your computer using a cable. Open Finder on Mac, or iTunes if you’re using Windows, and wait for the app to discover your iPhone. When you are asked to update or restore, click the update button. This will download the latest iOS 16 update from Apple, and install it on your iPhone. It will also ensure that your data stays intact. The restore option will wipe away the data on your iPhone, so make sure to choose carefully.
You can also download the iOS 16 ipsw firmware file for your iPhone, if you want to use a local copy of the file from your computer to update or restore.

But iTunes still Says iPhone is being prepared for update. You think it still Works in boot Loop? Or set iPhone back Into recovery Mode for update? Unsure what do to, thanks for Any help
Please try putting the iPhone in Recovery Mode for the update. An alternative would be to put it into DFU mode, and try again: https://www.ithinkdiff.com/iphone-13-in-dfu-mode-recovery-mode/
Same issue for me, mine is in a reboot loop and it is next to impossible to get to recovery mode – took me hours of trying. After downloading the update on my mac it got an unknown error and back in to reboot loop again. This really sucks.
Why are you unable to put it into recovery mode?
