Reportedly, Apple will launch the next-generation iPhone SE 3 model in 2022 and the rumor mills claim that the new entry-level iPhone will gain major updates like the A15 Bionic chip, 5G network support, and more. A new report by a Chinese publisher Mydrivers claims that the third-generation iPhone SE will have an iPhone X-like design with no Home button, side fingerprint scanner, and more.
The new report has created confusion related to the design of the new entry-level iPhone model. Previously, a Japanese publisher, Macotakara said that the upcoming iPhone SE 3 model will have the same design as the second-generation 4.7-inch iPhone SE (2020).
The new iPhone SE 3 will be Apple last iPhone with an LCD display
As per the report, the entry-level model will only have the same iPhone X like rounded corners with a curved design. But unlike the iPhone X’s OLED display, the new iPhone will be equipped with an LCD display which will also be Apple’s last iPhone to feature the old display panel.
Furthermore, the report says Apple will not retain the 4.7-inch iPhone 8 design but it did not mention the display size. Presumably, the new iPhone SE 3 will have a 5.8-inch display like iPhone X which would be in line with Ross Young’s claim of a 6.1-inch flat edge-to-edge display.
It is also said that Apple will remove the Home button and feature a fingerprint scanner in the side button like the power button fingerprint scanner in the 2020 iPad Air. The company might also introduce the notch and Face ID authentication in the new model. Reportedly, the capacity and price of the new model will remain the same as iPhone SE 2, starting with 64GB for $399.
Other sources claim that the new iPhone SE 3 will have a punch-hole display and will be available in new vibrant color options.
