The upcoming fourth-generation iPhone SE is rumored to debut as early as March or April 2025. A recent leak by Sonny Dickson on X (formerly Twitter) has given us a closer look at dummy units for the iPhone SE 4, providing insights into its potential design and features.
The leaked images showcase a stark departure from the iPhone SE’s traditional design, which has remained largely unchanged since the iPhone 8-inspired 2020 model. The iPhone SE 4 is expected to adopt the flat-edged design reminiscent of the iPhone 14. The dummy units reveal an aluminum frame and a glass back, exuding a more premium aesthetic, complemented by neutral color options of black and white. Notably, the iconic Home button and thick bezels are gone, making way for a full-screen display with a notch. This shift marks a significant modernization for the SE lineup, bringing it closer to Apple’s flagship designs.
The iPhone SE 4 is rumored to feature a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display, a substantial upgrade from the 4.7-inch LCD on its predecessor. The notch is expected to house a 12MP front-facing camera and Face ID sensors, marking the first time the SE series embraces Face ID technology. Despite having a single rear camera, the dummy models suggest a larger camera bump, possibly housing a 48MP sensor. This would represent a considerable leap from the 12MP sensor found in the current iPhone SE, promising enhanced photography and videography capabilities.
Performance-wise, the iPhone SE 4 is expected to pack Apple’s A18 chip with 8GB of RAM, putting it on par with the iPhone 16 in terms of speed and efficiency. This upgrade could unlock advanced Apple Intelligence features, improving the device with AI-driven optimizations, and making it more versatile for everyday use.
The dummy units also highlight some traditional elements, such as the SIM tray, pill-shaped volume buttons, and a mute switch, indicating Apple’s decision to retain these familiar features. The starting price for the iPhone SE 4 is rumored to be $499, maintaining its position as Apple’s most affordable iPhone. While there are whispers of a rebranding to “iPhone 16E,” it remains speculative.
