iPhone SE 3 to be released in the first quarter of next year
As reported by TrendForce, the rumored iPhone will remain a budget-friendly option with added support for 5G. This corroborates previous industry reports and rumors.
In terms of product development, Apple is staying with the plan to release its third-generation iPhone SE in 1Q22 and four models under a new series in 2H22. The third-generation iPhone SE is expected to be a major instrument in helping Apple establish a presence in the market segment for mid-range 5G smartphones. Its production volume for 2022 is forecasted to reach 25-30 million units.
TF Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has previously said the device may arrive in the first half of 2022. According to Kuo, the next-generation iPhone SE will have a similar design to the current model with a 4.7-inch LCD panel, unlike high-end iPhones which feature OLED panels. While there is no major redesign expected for the smartphone, it will receive major internal upgrades including the A15 chip which is featured in the iPhone 13 lineup, and 5G connectivity.
There have also been some rumors and leaks over the past few months suggesting Apple will release an ‘iPhone SE Plus,’ but the 6.1-inch device with a punch-hole display is not expected to launch before 2023.
Apple launched iPhone SE (2020) in April last year. The device is available to purchase from the tech giant’s website at $399 for 64GB of storage and $449 for 128GB of storage. The 256GB storage variant of the iPhone was discontinued after the release of iPhone 13. It had previously been available for $549.
