We are just 24 hours away from Apple’s first event of the year. While it is unclear what Macs the tech giant plans on releasing, it is widely expected that it will debut the next-generation iPhone SE and the fifth-generation iPad Air during the event. With that in mind, a Purchase Intent Survey was recently conducted for the iPhone SE. As per its findings, 40% of iPhone users are planning to purchase the iPhone SE 3 for themselves as their main handset, an additional phone, or as a gift to someone.
24% of iPhone users looking to buy the upcoming iPhone SE 3 as their main device
According to a Purchase Intent Survey conducted by SellCell, which collected data from 2,500 iPhone users, 40% of them are planning to purchase the next-generation iPhone SE that Apple will likely debut tomorrow.
From that 40%, 24% of iPhone users plan to buy the third-generation iPhone SE as their main device while 16% of the users interviewed are planning to purchase the phone as an additional device or as a gift.
When asked about a trade-in, iPhone 11 owners lead the trade-in charge, with the handset accounting for 11.5% of models that owners intend to part ways with once the iPhone SE 3 is launched.
Other reasons for buying the latest budget-friendly phone include low price (29.4%), upgrading from an old handset (25.5%), 5G capabilities (15.2%), compact form factor (11.3%), and Touch ID button (6.7%).
If we look at users who do not intend to upgrade, 66.2% say they are still happy with their current iPhone model, 9.3% are waiting for the iPhone 14 to launch, 4.1% say it’s too small, and 3.0% say it’s not premium enough.
A few months ago, J.P. Morgan analysts said that this phone has the potential to attract “nearly 1.4 billion low-to mid-end Android phones and about 300 million older iPhone model users.” The analysts also estimate a rise in iPhone SE “unit sales to 30 million units and annual iPhone shipments expectations to 250 million units, 10 million higher than a year earlier.”
While Apple is not introducing a new design for the iPhone SE, the A15 Bionic chipset, 5G connectivity, and pocket-friendly pricetag could be enough to attract customers.
