Heads up to all our Windows users that Redsn0w 0.9.8b1 to jailbreak iOS 5 beta 1 is now available for download for Windows users since the Mac version was released last week. The latest release supports iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 3G/4G and iPad running iOS 5 beta 1 for developers with registered UDIDs. This jailbreak DOES NOT PRESERVE BASEBAND update which means ultrasn0w unlockers should strictly stay away.
The iPhone Dev-Team has posted:
Since apparently Apple now provides Windows iTunes 10.5 for iOS5 and iCloud developers, it’s no longer the case that only Mac owners can legitimately activate their devices. We now provide a Windows version of redsn0w for those developers (only!).
You can download Redsn0w 0.9.8b1for Windows from here.
Simply follow the steps posted here to jailbreak your iOS 5 device with the latest Redsn0w. The guide is written for Mac but the basic steps are all the same for Windows users too. Remember, the jailbreak is tethered at the moment meaning you need to plug in your device into a computer at every reboot / restart to boot into jailbreak mode.
