LG has added support for Apple TV App, Apple Music, AirPlay, and HomeKit to webOS Hub to view new content and access new features on compatible smart TV sets.
Previously, the company introduced a promotion for LG Smart TV owners to enjoy Apple TV+ free for three months on select 8K and 4K LG Smart TV models.
Apple TV App, Apple Music, AirPlay, and HomeKit via webOS Hub in over 100 countries and regions
Compatibility with the webOS Hub ecosystem eliminates the need for purchasing an Apple TV set-top box or additional hardware to access Apple’s streaming services and features.
Now, consumers in more than 100 countries and regions only require a webOS smart TV from Seiki, Eko, Stream System, Konka, Aiwa, Hyundai, and other manufacturers to watch Apple TV+ original shows and movies, rent or purchase titles, stream music, mirror their devices’ screen on their televisions and much more.
The tech company expects that the move is likely to deliver a versatile smart TV experience to more audiences worldwide powered by a diverse library of content and innovative features on more brands than in 2021.
With the Apple TV app, Apple Music, AirPlay and HomeKit all coming to the webOS Hub ecosystem, LG is constantly refining and expanding its webOS smart TV platform while enhancing its accessibility so that more consumers can benefit from the most convenient user experience.
By offering a greater range of customization options to smart TV manufacturers and giving more convenience and choice of content to customers, 10 times as many brands are now available on webOS Hub than in early 2021, with LG now working with 200 partners in total including Seiki, Eko, Stream System, Konka, Aiwa and Hyundai.
It must be kept in mind that AirPlay and HomeKit features will only be available on OLED TVs and UHD TVs with webOS Hub 2.0.
