At the end of the iPhone 14 “Far Out” launch event, Apple added a new Lightning charging case for AirPods 3 on its online store.
In October 2021, Apple introduced AirPod 3 with a new compact design, an H1 chip, and advanced features like Adaptive EQ, Spatial Audio support, resistance to sweat and water, and more. At the time of launch, AirPods 3 came with a Lightning charging case with MagSafe support.
AirPods 3 new Lightning charging case retails for $169
AirPods 3’s new Lighting only charging case and the MagSafe charging case have very slight price differences.
- Lighting only charging case for $169
- MagSafe charging case for $179
The only difference between the two charging cases is that the MagSafe charging case supports wireless charging while the Lighting charging case requires a Lightning to USB-C Cable.
AirPods have an extra hour of battery life compared with AirPods (2nd generation) for up to 6 hours of listening time and up to 4 hours of talk time. With just 5 minutes of charge, you’ll get around an hour of listening or talk time. And with the MagSafe Charging Case, you can enjoy up to 30 hours of total listening time and charge with compatible MagSafe and wireless chargers.
The new Lightning charging case is available on Apple.com with next-day delivery. Customers can also get the case engraved with their favorite emoji, names, initials, and numbers for free.
At the event, Apple also unveiled AirPods Pro (2nd generation) which is powered by an advanced H2 chip to offer unrivaled audio quality, improved Active Noise Cancellation, new Adaptive Transparency, Touch control, and more.
