As multiple reliable sources have reported the release of new M1X MacBook Pro models, it has become certain that alleged laptops will launch this year. The listing of the new models was discovered in the Chinese database and Apple used M1X MacBook Pro tags in the YouTube video of its WWDC 21 event.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman claims that the upcoming M1X MacBook Pro models will launch in the September-November timeframe. Earlier it was reported that Apple would launch the new MacBook Pros in June at the WWDC 21 event. However, there is still some uncertainty about the launch time of the upcoming MacBook Pros because of supply chain constraints.
Launch of the M1X MacBook Pro is delayed due to mini-LED supply chain constraints
Explaining the reason for the new laptops delay, Gruman wrote that “these new MacBooks were supposed to launch earlier, but complications around the new miniLED display have held up production.” Furthermore, he also gave advice on which MacBook model should users choose depending on their work.
Rumor mills claim that 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with next-generation M1X Apple Silicon will launch this year. The redesigned laptops with a flat edge-to-edge display, no Touch Bar, new fingerprint sensor, UH-II SD card slot, 1080pweb camera and more, will also come with the mini-LED technology. Currently, offered in 12.9-inch iPad Pro (2021) the mini-LED panel, branded as Liquid Retina XDR display by Apple, uses diodes smaller than 0.2mm to deliver higher brightness and deeper contrasts. The mini-LED display is more power-efficient, at low risk of burn-out issues, and enables HDR through local dimming. Therefore, mini-LED panels are expensive than LCD which has made the tech industry adopted the tech, gradually. As there are not many suppliers who fulfill Apple’s requirements and standards, the company has delayed the launch of M1X MacBook Pro models because of mini-LED supply chain constraints.
He said users should pick M1 MacBook Air (2020) for web browsing, email, and light photo editing, and the new M1X MacBook Pro is suitable for fast processing and more RAM with app development, heavy video editing, and Photoshop tasks.
Previously, Gurman claimed that upcoming laptops will be configurable with up to 64GB of RAM. But YouTuber Luke Miani reported that Apple will offer up to 32GB of RAM in the new MacBook Pros.
